Pottery Craftsmanship through Clay Hollowing and Shaping

Explore traditional pottery crafting techniques, including methods for hollowing and shaping clay strips by hand or with tools. Craft a range of geometric ceramic pieces.


Sandblasting and Silk Screening
Ages: 17+

Explore silk screen printing principles in an interactive manner. Make a drawing, and then stretch the silk screen mesh for printing, attaching it to a wooden frame and selecting insulation materials. Learn through hands-on demonstrations showcasing unconventional printing methods for a variety of subjects.


Mixed Media in Visual Artwork

Engage with various techniques used to create contemporary visual art, such as frottage, decoupage, collage and assemblage. Find out how to distinguish between them, and learn to apply them effectively through strategies that preserve the unique imprint on the artwork's surface.


Explore the World of Colours

Immerse yourself in colour theory, exploring both primary hues and those created through blending. Delve into the interplay of colours to understand their harmony, complementarity and contrasts. Learn to coordinate colours in interior decor, fashion and diverse design applications.


Design a Logo through Linoleum Printing 
Ages: 17+  

Date: Monday to Thursday, 18–21 March 2024

Design a logo using linoleum printing. Draw and engrave a design, master the inking process, and collaborate in printing multiple copies. Linoleum printing is a type of printmaking used by artists since the early twentieth century. It encompasses relief, intaglio and flat printing techniques. 


Pastel Drawing and Painting
Ages: 17+

Take part in drawing and painting exercises using chalk pastels, and develop skill in creating delicate gradations inspired by the works of professional artists.


Draw with Pencil and Charcoal 
Ages: 17+

Learn how to draw with pencils and pieces of charcoal. Engage in numerous linear studies, and draw still life and other forms while exploring various techniques for capturing shadow, light and their gradations.


Decorating Ceramic Tiles

Take inspiration from the Arab and Islamic heritage motifs found on mosques, ancient buildings, book covers and handicrafts. Experiment with the process of drawing and colouring on ceramic tiles in different colours.


Monoprinting

Delve into engraving and printing by crafting unique prints with monoprinting techniques. Using both multiple- and single-colour treatments, explore a range of simple and diverse subjects.


Explore the Colour Wheel

Discover the colour wheel, including related primary and secondary colours as well as complementary warm and cool tones. You can also learn about saturated and mixed colours and the ways in which the colours are linked in terms of harmony, neutrality and contrast.
