Craft Geometric Tiles 
Ages 11–15

Date: Saturday, 13 July 2024
Timings: 11:00 am–1:00 pm
Languages: English and Arabic

Learn how to make hand-crafted geometric tiles from clay. Invent your own patterns, which you can shape and carve on your tile. Once the tile dries, decorate your work with different colours of paint.

Explore Rhythm and Tone with the Boom Whacker
Family Workshop 

Date: Saturday, 13 July 2024

Draw a self-portrait on transparent A4 paper, and then place it in a cardboard box. Create a sense of depth and express your thoughts by adding drawings and text in acrylic paints. This workshop is inspired by Omer Khairy’s Portrait, in which a woman is shown in contrasting colours of yellow and dark blue.

Enhance Photographs with Drawing
Ages 6–10

Discover how you can add depth to your images by drawing with oil pastels or acrylic markers. Bring your own photos, and insert a touch of playfulness into a memory. Take inspiration from works by Farideh Lashai, who used mediums such as markers and paint to modify photographic images.

Discover the World of Folk Music 
Family Workshop

Explore folk music from different cultures, focusing on how lyrics and rhythms originated—not just to celebrate happy occasions but also to break the monotony of work and harvest seasons. Listen to recordings of folk music from a variety of countries and cultures. Learn how the music reflects the musicians' way of life, and discuss with other participants how the folk music compares to the music you know.
